Well that one is not. The truck moving through the crowd has Maria Machado (the candidate banned from the ballot, with her surrogate Edmundo Gonzalez running in her place. on top.
Here is reporting on that same truck from a different angle and from a liberal source.

Costa Rica just offered asylum to Gonzalez and Machado after Maduro signed arrest warrants for them.

It looks like civil war is the next most likely outcome for Venezuela or mass arrests and killings.

Such is the sad state of Socialism. And Cuba has an estimated 20,000 forces in Venezuela to teach torture, crowd suppression and help Maduro with intelligence.

Since some of the Venezuelan military may be fracturing and don't want to turn on their own people Maduro will use the Cubans as his cudgel. His own personal protection detail is Cuban, because he fears a coup from among his own troops.

Expect hundreds of thousands of more Venezuelan refugees.

I like this post from you on this topic. I agree and I think if Maduro gets the support he hopes from Putin and Co then there won’t be another election. But I didn’t understand at all the parallels you we’re making to your own country in your previous posts.

Thank you Donald. Congratulations on managing to insert "DR" into your post about your views on American politics.
There are parallels in almost every country in the world.
DR is not immune to corruption of power, nor US nor UK, nor France, nor Russia nor India nor all countries in Latin America ( maybe Javier Milei can reverse that)
I would say every voting base must remain vigilant in their countries because abuses are seen at many levels. (When you pay the police bribe here in DR as an example)
FYI I do not speak for Trump, I can not vote for him nor his democrat opponent.

I see Maduro has stated today he will soon release all the election vote records - You think they will be legit ?

You seem to lean that way that right wing extremism is acceptable to you. You only argument against any type of left wing extremism. I don’t like neither. Apart from that I am a pluralist and accept and try and understand different views. But Maduro is a left wing extremist. He wants the state to own and control everything. From what I have read. Like he is predecessor Chavez. They don’t like free elections. Like a certain fellow in the United States. I can imagine Maduro said “just vote for me now. You don’t have to vote again. I will fix that”. Something like that.

?? Maduro has people jailed and killed for disagreeing with him, the inflation rate is breaking the backs of the entire country, the homicide rate is off the charts and would be higher if there was a legitimate government in place reporting the facts. There is a reason most of the population wants to leave. The U.S State department has a do not travel warning similar to that of Afghanistan. That should sum it up.

You really are quite out of touch with reality at times. Under many countries rules one can only be president twice, therefore voting for a person that has already been president means you can only vote for them one more time. This is the case in the DR, as well as the country you so obliquely referred to. And if you are going to say somebody said something at least be accurate in your quote.

Apparently, it does not sum it up or explain it sufficiently, and some are still trying to rationalize it away " oh its just a little extremism, the same as right wing extremism" ?!? wtf
Holy Sheit .
this Man is a straight up Ruthless Dictator . this is not Just a little " left wing extreme"
This is life and death now for these People . Not " oh, we will get them at the Polls NEXT time , no worries"
. Civil war ( as Chico also said) is their only chance at this point,..
Does anyone really think this Chud is going to FIX the Economy of the Country into Prosperity ?
The Comparisons to simple Politics are beyond comprehension for any sane person.

I'm not an extremist by any measure

But I am certainly aware that many persons & forces seek to suppress people, not only for politician's own gains and power, but also the state bureaucracies that have become entrenched to maintain their own motives of power and money.

You can hide from these power grabs and that's exactly what those in power prefer you do, until such a time power is so cemented that no legal option is avaliable to unseat them from power - like the situation now being faced by the people of Venezuela.

Dictatorship has suppressed and impoverished Cuba since 1959 with the promise of liberating Cuba 'for the people'.
And people still try to rationalize the Castro era.
Remember all those that not only defended the Chavez take over of Venezuela but held it out as an example (by US and Canadian políticos) for the rest of the world to follow.

Thousands of Dominicans moved to Venezuela in the 1970s and 1980s. Many still remain there.
I know a Dominican who prefers to live in the land of Simón Bolívar than in the D.R... even now.
