Dominican Vice President Raquel Peña has once again stepped up to defend the Dominican Republic against charges of racism fostered by Amnesty International. These charges stem from the Dominican policy of deporting undocumented, illegal aliens from Dominican territory.

However, since the vast majority of these deportations involve people from neighboring Haiti, which is a predominately black nation, charges of racism are frequent. Vice President Peña, however, was not at all timid in her rebuttal of these accusations, telling Amnesty International that the Dominican nation defends its sovereignty, and guarantees the legality of each foreigner that is in the country.

She stated that the laws of the country are in no manner anti-immigrant. She went on to say that the international agencies can say whatever they want to say, but they must respect Dominican national sovereignty...

I heard they now need to start filling a quota of illegal gringos also to combat this bad press. Of course you won’t find it in the press, but a solid contact higher up in the PN said the curtain call is coming. Recall Abinader was speaking at Columbia last year and some students let him have it on the same issue.

I would love nothing more than to see this administration start rounding up and deporting
these dirtbag NGOs once and for all. PROBLEM SOLVED.
I was lucky enough to witnessed Hun Sen do it in Cambodia several years ago and I enjoyed every single minute of it.
Good riddance!

I never expect that to happen. Illegal gringos are not on the governments hit list.

Anything is possible in today's world of MEMES. I thought about this this morning when it was reported front page of most news papers that protests and labor stoppage will begin in Israel in support of stopping the war against Hamas, Imagine protest in favor of killers and kidnappers. I think is very possible a mime movement can be started by some organizations against the DR for "abuses against cane worker, houses, deporting, etc" any and all BS these type of orgs one can think of.

Once a meme takes hold it snowballs. My opinion... very possible to make the DR the poster child of abuse of the Haiti nation.

The DR will just hold its position regarding Haiti. Keep up the deportations and telling the world where it can go with their comments about what they think the DR should or should not do. That is how I see things playing out.

Two alleged criminals shot dead and one on the run after confrontation with police in Herrera.
Two of three alleged criminals were shot dead early today in the El Abanico sector, Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste , after confronting police officers who tried to arrest them for their alleged involvement in several criminal acts.

They are Michel Silvio (Lolo), who was actively sought after having escaped from La Victoria Penitentiary, where he was serving a 30-year sentence, and Jeison Moisés, 24 years old, both of Haitian nationality. Both died while receiving medical attention at the Marcelino Vélez Hospital.

According to the preliminary report, a third individual, nicknamed "Alemán", managed to escape from the scene.

The deceased were found in possession of two firearms, with which they shot at agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim), who were forced to repel the attack, causing the injuries that subsequently caused their deaths.

The seized weapons include a Browning 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off, a magazine and five cartridges, as well as a Ruger 380 caliber pistol with its magazine and three cartridges.

In addition, seven cell phones of different brands, two tablets, a machete and an SUV were seized from them, which they had stolen after perpetrating a violent assault in a residence in the municipality of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo.

Police reported that among the evidence seized were a cell phone and a 2011 Laredo Grand Cherokee SUV, gray in color, with license plate number G331336, stolen from the aforementioned residence.

No doubt those winey little pieces of shit at Amnesty International are going to throw a temper tantrum over this one.
GOOD RIDDANCE!
