Ambassador Victor Suarez presenting credentials to Pope Leo XIV / Hoy
The Dominican Republic should soon be able to clarify the possible ancestry ties of new Pope Leo XIV with the country now that Ambassador Victor Suarez has presented credentials.
When presenting his letters of credence to Pope Leo XIV on 3 June 2025, Dominican ambassador Victor Valdemar Suarez Diaz also invited the new Pope to visit. The Presidency reports that Suarez told the Pope: “It would be a prophetic sign, Holy Father, if in this Jubilee year, you were to become the first pontiff since Saint John Paul II to set foot on Dominican soil, blessing our ongoing peace efforts.”
