If this is the way that Cris posts and we all know it, then I suggest a sticky that warns all newbies. Keep in mind that this is a forum where many people that are not Dominican, do not live in the Dominican Republic, and are not familiar with the country, come to for information. It would be a shame if they read a post like that and all of a sudden start thinking, "oh, so this is how all or most Dominicans are." Yes, there are many like that. But it is not all and not even the majority.

Ricardo, I'm not sure any Dominican would deny the shortcomings of our people. We all know the hardships, we all know some lazy people and we know the problems with prostitution and drugs. This, unfortunately, is a worldwide epidemic. If it happens in the wealthier nations, of course it will happen in the poorest of ones as well.
The problem with the comments is that the poster claims this IS the Dominican Dream. That Dominicans aspire to be welfare cheats and corrupt as a whole. That's not stating facts, just ignorance. Now I know that that's the posters' style, but, folks can certainly call him out when he's full of crap with his generalizations.

Don't take out on CC.

I do agree that it gets tiresome to read all of his negative posts, but our eyes are free to read what we want!

CC is a moderator, he is not going to go anywhere any time soon.

In short, don't take offense by the way he states things. Sure, they do flare up certain emotions at times (patriotic?), but he is nowhere near being influential in decisions being made by national and/or world leaders, he's nowhere being influential on the economy, and he's nowhere near being influential on the outcome of the country in the short or long term.

Thus, just let him be what he is... A DR1er who states certain facts with a shot of generalizations....

However, do the same towards the US and he's the first one to defend that country!

It goes both ways.

ok.. thanks.

Those same people that come to a site, read something that's been "generalized" and let that sway their opinion (or change the path of their destiny as you're referring to) are extremely demented to begin with.

They should unplug the computer, ship it back to the JC Penney catalog warehouse, and take a long walk off a short pier.

Are you f'ng kidding me Dragonfly? Do you station yourself on poppy plants?

How about a sliver of goddamn common sense? Is that too much to ask?

This board has been infiltrated with such a humongous crop of dipshits lately. I simply can't believe some of the mind daihrrea that comes from some of you.

Yes, put sticky's everywhere warning people of those ferocious storytellers (people who tend to live in THIS world - REALITY!).

You all, who are so profoundly offended by CC (and me too hopefully) need to seriously get a grip. This board serves an innumerable amount of functions for a wide array of people. But you bible-thumping do-gooders need to build a "virtual" site where you can pet each other in your virtual worlds, lightly stroking each others esteem.

All dragonfly's are stupid, lazy and good for nothing.

A generalization? Perhaps.

Get over it.

Does that wide array NOT include people that disagree with some of the things that are said on the board, or are you the only one allowed to rant on?

Have You Noticed How All The People Who Are Sooooooo

Offended my my "insensitive" posts about "ALL" Dominicans and "Things" Dominican,LOVE to attack ME personally, and even bring my Dominican wife and our children into the equation???
Sooooooooo, I love living with a 14 year old Dominican,is THAT your problem?? We love each other very much!I love getting a "Hug & Kiss" when I come home from work!I help them with "homework."What would you do,put them out into the street and all that would surely bring??????

You see, that 14 year old is my wife's son,who has lived with us since he was 4 years old, when his mother and I got married. That was ten years ago! "1995" for the functionally illiterate!(See,I said "Married",we chose the "Non-Traditional" way in the DR!We actually have legal documents proving that we are married. We didn't just "Shack-up" and start producing "Bastartds! We also have 3 children "Together".Stress on "T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R",I didn't desert my wife when she became pregnant with our first child)
If those who wish to criticize me would actually "R-E-A-D" my posts you might understand their "deeper"(If only in my mind, and a few other DR1er's fortunate enough to be blessed with "Double-Didget" IQs!)message!
I really do love it when I read those feeble attempts to ridicule me and "Mine".I am SOOOOOOOOOOO above letting words touch me that you will NEVER know! My mother taught me more than 50 years ago, that "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but "Names" can
NEVER hurt me!

I was born in the "USA" people can make their own decision as to where it ranks in the history of the World.Americans have many many faults.I do!
I'll let the "Immigration Statistics" for the last 200 years speak volumes as to what many people think! That said,"DR1" is NOT ABOUT THE USA!!That is why we don't discuss what is going on there, unless it has a"Direct",and "Immediate" affect on the DR!

You may want to go and re-read,or in the apparent case of most of the recent crop of "Politically Correct Winers",READ,the "Disclaimer" regarding the "General Stuff" Forum. It goes "something" like this:"Not for the faint hearted,or easily offended"!!!
So, "Fold It 3 Ways,And Shove It Where The Sun Don't Shine"

I stand by my description of "ALL" Dominicans.
....They Cannot ,under any circumstance yet observed by "Mankind", accept "Critiscism"!!

They are programmed from the "womb" to respond "asi"!

"No we do not!"
"Other People do it MORE,or,"Other People are Worse!",or "Everybody" does it!"
"You are Lying!"
"It's not MY fault!

Want to get me "started" talk about "Cradle To Grave" irresponsibility" of an entire island of People!!

"Have A Nice Day!"

Wow, for someone who doesn't really care what others say about you. You sure do post a lot about what others say about you.

Enjoy your day!

Sorry to interrupt but can I just say that Vin Diesel sucks?

Thanks,

At least he's a nice person. I got to meet him last month when he came to Punta Cana and he's very nice. Now as to his acting, I've seen worse...

Criss has ten years of marriage behind him, several years living in the DR, and beautiful kids with this "teenager"...what do you bring to the table? Most of us that have been around for any length of time love Criss for his "tell it like it is" attitude. Although I don't always agree with what he says, he's "generally" bang-on with his comments. Pay attention, you might just learn something from him.

pay attention?

Um, if they were not putting attention, do you think this thread would have turned CC oriented?

:classic:

Also, I don't think people here think CC is "evil", well, let me rephrase that, I don't think he is "evil". The evil people are right now assaulting, robbing, and putting alot of intelligence into designing the perfect robbery when they could have used that intelligence more effectively somewhere in this world.

Do I think he is correct with his assumptions? Well, if you take the "All Dominicans" and replace them with "the Dominicans I see" blah blah blah, then yes, he is correct.

I understand that in a group of five, is four of them curse and one speaks modestly, people will say that all five are vulgar, stupid people. But, that does not changes the fact that one actually was modest and saying such thing will not be fair towards him.

That is why people here flair against CC from time to time. Heck, I have been victim of the "flair feeling" with him on rare occassions, but for the most part, I don't take what CC says to heart. I do take every other word that he writes with the exceptions of "all Dominicans", "Dominicans aspire to", etc.

Once you eliminate those words, his message gets through without igniting the fight or flight emotions.

We are all humans. Say a fault of the US using the words "all Americans", "Americans aspire to", etc and you will see him and a few other Americans jump off their seat and respond.

Why? Because your country is your country and you will love it as such regardless. When a person generalizes, you feel insulted only if you are one of those who are trying to do things the RIGHT WAY.

Bullsh*t!

I just think your above statement is rubbish. Now if you had posted in the clown bin, I may have found some humor in it.

You said WHAT about the Heights???

Well, I guess it's going to be the taxes taken out of my paycheck that are going to feed CC's (Cerebrally Challenged) wife and kids when she gets fed up with his fecal vocalizations, "escapes" to the Heights, can't find a job, goes on public assisstance and sells her back side to make ends meet.

Let's not forget who cut sugarcane before we did.....

A matter of reputation

This is my first visit to this forum. Please excuse me for not knowing all the members.

The comparison above is obviously presented to be provocative and incendiary, and it is.

A good joke is by nature rooted in reality. There is truth in humor. But there may not be humor in truth.

Certainly we can all acknowledge the deficiencies and inadequacies of the Dominican culture. (Clearly we have our work cut out). But we can just as easily name the shortcomings of any other culture. This is an easy task. The real question here is, in the absence of entertainment, what purpose does it serve? Perhaps the answer is to bring awareness to the problem and possibly do it with a little humor?

Still, good humor and light heartedness are not the issues. The issue here may be that this is not only a matter of the perception of a culture, but of its reputation.

The simple truth is that our words, behavior and character are on display, for all the world to see, whether we intend them to be or not. How do you wish the world to look upon you and your culture? A more important question might be, what is your reputation worth, to you?

Much respect to all here?
