Well with the uncertainty of flights , difficulty getting the right PCR test and getting results back in time . I think I'm going to ride out the storm till they smooth things out. North american countries won't/can;t keep things locked down come march and then Easter in april. So after/during Wave 1.2.2.3A they should have gotten their kick backs from airlines to open up flights and have some type of resemblance that they have worked things out., so that small window , say May to September ,I'll be looking again . Safe travel to all who have to and are fortunate enough to be able too.

My son is scheduled to depart for Canada from POP to Toronto on Westjet this Saturday afternoon (Jan 23), however he is unable to get a Covid test appointment in time. The lab in Bournigal is closed on Thursday due to national holiday. They have appointments on Wednesday morning, but that is outside of the required 72 hours window and Friday morning is too late, since results take 3 days. What are all the other 200 passengers on that flight doing? This is a disaster waiting to happen.

Seems that plenty of other people are having this problem

My wife and I have both done it outside of the 96 hours needed for our flights, it was extended and even if it is needed by the within 72 hours when your son needs the test, you go when they tell you to go...They will take care of the times etc. It gets sent to SD Referenia Lab and the time and dates are when it's done in SD not when you go to Bournigal..
Oh i lost sleep over this, but myself a good friend and my wife it has worked out for. If you go too late you will not get your test result in time. Any questions contact Heidy internacional.cmbo@gruporescue.com. 809-586-2342. EXT 2124

We got our results whatsapped to us. I had to call over and over to get results the am of my flight, they came to my wife's whatsapp 8:30am for her 1:50 pm flght today and my friend had her results emailed to her the am of her west jet sat flight.

It does look like you were lucky though, judging by the reports of more than 200 Canadians who were denied boarding in the last few days.

If it was me I would explain at airport test couldn't get back in time cause of holiday
Take your chances
Spin the wheel

200 people were denied boarding by Canadian airlines because they either didn't have the test results in time, or had taken the wrong test. It's being reported in DominicanToday.

It's worth following David Collado on Twitter as he says he is going to announce a new way to get these tests done supposedly today.

Hey... it was Quebec!! Not Ontario don’t start civil unrest we might have to close a Tim Hortons ...your allowed to walk your dog in Ontario..
No. It was a lady walking her dog in an Ontario town. The Premier of Quebec actually said it was okay to walk your dog as long as you stayed within a kilometre of your house. The Quebec curfew is stricter than the Ontario lockdown. I’m hoping the judge throws the charges against the lady out of court. The enforcement officer who charged her was on a power trip. She was obeying the rules.

I stand corrected. Your right. It was in Sherbrooke, Quebec. My friend on Facebook was confused and told me it was in Ontario. Quebec Premier Legault even spoke out and said it was okay to walk your dog as long as you stayed within a kilometre of your house. The charges against her will thrown out of court.

Abinader has just said in his TV programme "We are changing" that they are going to organise PCR testing via hotels for Canadians and Americans. So I am guessing that they will provide a testing regime for the all-inclusives, and probably nothing to help independent tourists.

Las Terrenas
Where in the hell are we supposed to get a PCR test within three days of leaving DR?
Think of timelines , possible appointments requirements, I have to travel an hour to get the test ... $2000.oo taxi , Test $???, then get the online Exit DR document, Plus the PCR is not that accurate.

We're in Las Terrenas .... does anybody know where we can get a Covid test done with fast written results? The USA and American Airlines will require it on January 26th and we leave next month for Cali

No, Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Husband and wife went out after 8pm. He had a leash on so that they could "circumvent" the 8pm curfew. There was no dog. Both were fined $1500 each.
Regardless, not DR related or to anything in this thread.

I just hope the RD government is collecting all these overstay fees, and they get allocated to the proper avenues.

The resorts should get in the covid testing excursion business. Maybe combine it with a casino tour for those who feel really lucky.
Testing is not that expensive. The resorts should get into vaccines and testing business. " Come and enjoy our Sun and safe resort included vaccine and when you leave we will supply you with PCR test all for good value $$"

Wake up Canada, USA and Europe! now it's just for the minister of tourism to get the Vaccines. ( maybe make them here)

No DRama, eh?

You have to love how Bournigal post dates the results for the client. Such customer service.

Reports in the news are some resorts are in the CV19 testing business. Hard Rock was the one I saw.

What a farce the testing is if the labs date the results incorrectly, eh?

This does not help Canadians because they need a different test:

MSN NEWS CANADA is rife with stories of Canadians stranded due to need for Negative PCR Tests .... but they were warned before they left. Yet one couple stated that the Government of Canada should forbade them to leave the country..... You know, the COVID 19 pandemic is not a joke or some fake News to cast by the wayside. Canada is a Democratic Free Nation ... we have the right to come and go as we wish.... but the old''War Measures Act'' now renamed for political Correctness .... Strongly recommended that Citizens not travel internationally...Hell, they can't travel freely between Provinces , so what in the name of common sense would anyone think they are exempt the rules imposed whether reasonable or not, and travel internationally.
I have been effectively stranded since April 2020 planning on returning in February ''NOT'' ... there you go now, Ain't life just great... Piss into the wind and you get wet.....
The resorts should get in the covid testing excursion business. Maybe combine it with a casino tour for those who feel really lucky.
And issue free Ivermectin to all guests....
