Last time I owned a television was Spring of 2006. Last time I watched a Super Bowl was 2010 (in Phnom Penh of all places) when the Saints won their first campionship.

Can't help ya with this one.

Super Bowl Pales in Comparison to the Biggest Game in Soccer

According to FIFA, the 2022 World Cup Final between Argentina and France reached an average live audience of 571 million viewers across the globe, with more than 1.4 billion people watching at least one minute of the 120-minute thriller live. The 2024 Super Bowl pales in comparison, despite reaching new viewing records both domestically and internationally. Are there any particular places that are better to watch the game? Anyone have a favorite place they like to watch the game at?

I think it has a lot to do with what you grow up playing and watching.
I'm sure that's part of the reason. I think the main reason though that those from Europe and Latin America don't like American football is that, unlike soccer, it's a very complex game. There are a lot of rules and a lot of strategy that really takes quite a while to learn. If you don't know and understand them, it just looks like a bunch of players aimlessly running into each other.

My experience is no better place than home.
You mean to tell me the thought of putting on a football jersey and yelling and screaming with complete strangers does not appeal to.you. Chicken wings, beer and yelling complex terms like: off sides and touch down. If your lucky you will get to see a fist fight involving two fat guys that have a combined cholesterol number of 750.

Years ago, many years ago, a Saturday football game meant traffic paralysis on Interstate 85, where every law enforcement officer in the state was summoned to that iconic humble redneck town to protect the citizenry from their own drunkenness and stupidity. The town smelled like yeast and vomit for 2 days. Untold bar fights, where cans of Natural Light were used as ammunition within 3 square miles of the Esso club. Pool stick fights, low-moral sorority gals flashing breasts.

I think after those days I may have stepped out in the public eye for the occasional celebratory playoff game maybe once every 3 years. I may have gone to 5 baseball games over my 20 years in DR, but it’s really just more of the above. At least I did it. The excitement and wonderment of watching the same 5 teams year in and year out never got my attention anyway. I will watch the Chiefs play tomorrow but will make sure to schedule a zoom call for this year’s Pulitzer winner, Kendrick Lamar’s big half time spectacular.

There’s nothing like watching an iconic game in the comfort of your own home while whipping up a modest veal valdostana.

Nothing quite like knocking your charcuterie board off the table and spilling your wine while calmly saying "I do think that was pass interference!" :) In my younger years I sometimes would go to a sports bar or similar establishment to watch the big game, but I prefer to watch at home now. The fact that kickoff is close to 8 p.m. is certainly a part of that decision for me...I have little desire to be out very late, especially on a weekend, so I wouldn't be watching more that the first half of the game there anyway.

Definitely! In Canada hockey is our opiate. Deeply engrained in our culture. In the DR it’s baseball. Me personally, it’s Formula one racing, Motorcycle racing, and high speed sailing catamaran racing. I followed the America’s Cup racing events for years.

You can add Canadian football to the complexity. We don’t have the fourth down. Some say this makes the game faster and better. Not a football fan so I can’t say.

Also the field is a lot wider so the game is more open.........

Obviously you know nothing about "soccer" as you call it if you thin k there aren't a lot of rules and strategy.

A Canadian friend of mine told me yesterday that for every half hour of match time in American "football" there are just eight and a half minutes of actual play.

If you can't be an athlete you can be an athletic supporter. ( grease )
Don Cherry, an NHL colour commentator once said, “Any city who refers to hockey as ice hockey should never be given an NHL franchise“. 😆 It was around the time Florida was awarded its first NHL franchise. There’s lots of talk about expanding the CFL in Canada but nothing so far. Same for an MLB franchise for Montreal. The Expos left a long time ago.
