Isn't it almost always Dominicans who open fast food franchises in the DR.
Yes.....and with some exceptions, their track record is not that enviable.

I do not see this guys prior business experience as being a compliment to his success in the DR.......which is why I said I hope he has a good DR partner.

Yes, just to name a few:

Taco Bell (operated by Vimenca/Western Union relatives)

Wendys, Pizza Hut, Chilis (Operated by the son of Frank Rainieri, Puntacana)

Domino's (operated by Luis Rodriguez who also owns Avis, the founder of all "Patio" malls in Santo Domingo (Patio Colombia, Patio Norte, Chiquito, Embajada, etc..)

Burger King, Krispy Kreme, Papa Johns (owned by Corripio Family)

Juan Valdez (operated by Alberto Jimenez, a famous chef)

Again, hope this brand have a good Dominican partner. Dominicans are very attached to massive, worldwide popular brands.

Not almost always, all foreign businesses in the DR must have a Dominican partner. Without that there is no DR business. The Dominican partner could even be a foreigner if naturalized as Dominican. With many countries dual nationality is recognized, but Haiti isn’t one of them.

Are you sure about this NALS ? I have a Dominican partner in the SRL I still have but only because I choose to. 51-49 % where I have 51. At first I had 90 and she 10. I wouldn't mind now if she had more than me as she runs it. But I think you can own a business in the DR without a Dominican partner. This could be an interesting question for the business or legal forum.

You do NOT have to have a Dominican partner for most businesses, but there are a few exceptions.

I deliberately wanted my Dominican partner but in an SRL I do think there has to be two shareholders. She had 10% at first and it could have stayed that way. There is also a company form EIRL, I think it is, where you can be just one owner.
