I did not watch the WBC in the other years, but have been watching it this year - and it has been fun. More fun than the Spring Training games. But I am curious what it would be like if they extended the All-Star break and played the WBC at that time, when more of the players are fully ready, not just Spring Training ready. It is a MLB event, so MLB could decide to open up the All-Star break every few years to allow for it. But that might be too much for some people - my guess is that it will stay as a Spring Training event. The participating players are taking the games very serious, so the competition has been good - hopefully the viewing interest will continue to grow. Go RD!

Team Dominicana keeps winning and advancing. Should be an interesting game against Team USA if it happens. I would love to see the DR against Korea or Japan. That would be a real treat to watch. Go DR!!!!

Miguel Cabrera and Pablo Sandoval both told the press after Team Venezuela's elimination that this tournament should be played right after the World Series. Some might argue player's exhaustion, but we have to remember both these players played the WS and still think it would be the best time. I think it's worth considering.

I agree, it might to be better played between the World Series and Winter Ball but most of your better players today are in game shape all year round so I am not sure it really matter. I enjoy watching the WBC now as a prelude to the MLB season. This could be the DRs year. Cano, Cano, Cano!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was starting to think that after the World Series would be better, but I am enjoying the games being played now. Spring has always been about the start of baseball and having some games that are real before April 1 has been fun. Looking forward to the DR vs USA game tomorrow!

El Dominicanos are a "Dream Team". If they can keep their focus they will be very difficult to beat.

LTSteve
Dream Team ??? LOL A team of "chockers" If the USA played Sabathia for the 1 through 3rd innings, and Verlander for the 4 through 6th, then finished off the 7 through 9 with Lee, Strasburg, Halladay, Lincecum. Those so called "dream team " Dominicans wouldn't even foul off a pitch nevertheless get a hit.

BTW I like Cano in this tournament because he needs all the pratice he can get, what did he bat in the last post season like 1 for 40???

You go right ahead thinking Dominican Republic players are better then Americans I want stop you, and let me throw this in also, if the the Dominicans would have played harder they would have beat the Americans in basketball lucky for the Americans the Dominicans did really want to beat Kobe, Kevin, and Lebron.

If the USA wanted to "DESTROY" the DR in every single aspect in life they could.

I'm sure many Americans living here now, (because they now favor the lifestyle of this Island compared to the rat-race of the United States) would have been humble in the defeat of the American Baseball team and even offered congratulations to the Dominican side. Sadly, your last two posts show the type of person you really are, and thus, YOU'RE the type of person that gives the average American an (unjustly) bad name.

You may not know but we have a league here called "MLB" and 99% of our best players are preparing for the up coming season by playing games in AZ and FL. I am White Sox fan and my daughter mother is a Cub fan and they played a game in AZ yesterday. Do you think anybody in Chicago gave a damn about that game? Do you think Americans were sitting in bars crying because the DR beat USA in a game where more people are corcerned about which NFL teams are signing who, will the Miami Heat ever lose again, what bracket there college team will end up in etc.

You beat the USA in baseball now you and some of you buddies take a USA jersey burn it, pour Brugal on it, and stand around and sing and watch it burn LOL HAIL !!! to the mighty Dominican Republic baseball team. I am PROUD of the DR team SIKE!!!

Now I am NOT a Dominican man, nor do I have a Dominican wife, GF, or "booty call" I have a daughter in Santo Domingo but her birth does not make me any more Dominican then President Kim Jong in North Korea.

How many Americans move abroad but still want to emulate Americans lifestyle to a certain extent? If you want to leave the USA " rat race" then leave behind everything that come with it. Don't take a boat load of USA dollars to a place and think you are adapting to a certain countries lifestyle. The only thing that makes American expats living in DR relevant is the US dollars that they have access to. An American in DR is only as strong as his or her wallet or is.

What if the USA looked away from the DR and allowed the DRUG LORDS to have free reign on the streets of the DR? You think parts of Mexico is bad. So before you talk about Americans still living in the USA UNDERSTAND the USA is still protecting your ASS even though you live in another country

Lastly I do not cared if Americans have a (unjustly) bad name across the globe I LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN and that American flag waves at all government buildings in the USA and until somebody is bad enough to remove those flags we having a saying in the USA " Kick Rocks"!!!!!!

So if Puerto Rico wins are you going to be Puerto Rican? There wouldn't be any Dominican drug lords if Americans, Canadians, and Europeans didn't have a need/want for escaping from reality through drugs. How many murders in Chicago last night?

Go back and read 99.9% of my post I ALWAYS refer to myself as JMB773 not Puerto Rican or an American why do you think I do that? How many times to you read on here "I'm Dominican so I know what I talking about, or I have been married to a Dominican woman for over 20 yrs(which is one of my favorites) I am ME 1st before I am anything else. In many of your posts you seem like a man DEFINED by his wife and the many women you dated from other countries.

I really wished you married a Puerto Rican woman or an African American so they really could put you in check. The Dominican republic plays Puerto Rico EVERY YEAR in the series with Mexico and our brothers and sisters from the south (RIP HUGO) so what are you saying? Not ONE Puerto Rican in Chicago cares about that game PR vs DR. Let give you a tip for free Puerto Ricans on the island, in NYC in Philly, Orlando and Chicago are all totally different!!! I HATE Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, Don Omar, Alexis y Fido etc and many other PRicans hate that sh*t as well in the CHI but we respect them for getting" MAS DINERO" over the BS. I do respect "Ivy Queen" and sort of like her because she is dope in her own way.

Bob you are a Canadian from Ottawa or Quebec stop trying to act like you know because you share or shared bed with some latina. You know why Dominicans in DR love and respect JMB773 so much? because they know I will NEVER try to fit in. I AM NOT DOMINICAN why would I root for that team even if I was into the WBC??? You think you are 1st white guy madly "in love" with African American women or latinas??? Please I have met thousands of you kind and I will meet thousands more in the future.

BTW Let show you how GOOD I am!!! I know who you WORST enemy is in DR. Not the Dominican man or Haitian man, but a very attractive man from the USA, Spain, Italy, France, Brazil etc You will ALWAYS be the same old Bob Saunders from Canada married to a Dominican woman and if you have not notice by now Dominican women needs a little excitement in their lives and I can share with you some stories that will break your heart and ruin your Saturday, but I won't because I like you.

I never said one word about the Canadian baseball team, but leave it to the Canadians to come and save the day.

You asked a question I forgot to answer about murders in the Chi. Last night I would say we had less murders then Canadian men asking Dominican women for their hand in marriage last night. I would say about 46 Canadian men asked a Dominican "will you spend the rest of your life with me" last night.

Friday nights are always big nights for Canadian and Dominican love to come together;)

Yep, that's why all the Dominican live in New York, that's part of Canada too. Synapses not completing their firing in your case, obviously.

I just looked up the line ups of some of the teams. Sure the US team could have sent a stronger array of pitchers but their line up has 28 players on major league teams. The Dominican Republic team has the same as the US at 28 major league players. Canada and Puerto Rico have 26 players each in the majors. Italy has 15, the Netherlands has a suprising 14, Taipei has 3 and Japan has 1 as a couple of the japaneese stayed back for spring training. Of course Cuba has none but I'm sure there are major league caliber players on their line up. As a final note as a Canadian it was shocking at the time when Italy merced Canada 14 to 4.

Even though an ESPN pole said they don't find this tournament very interesting I have watched every game on ESPN Deporte and will watch the finals.
