A trough north of the country, combined with moderate east/northeast winds, will bring scattered, locally heavy showers and gusty winds throughout the morning and afternoon, reports the Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet).

The affected provinces go from the southeastern coast to the northwestern coast. Indomet forecasts rain for La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, Hermanas Mirabal, and Montecristi.

By nightfall, the rainfall is expected to gradually decrease, leading to partly cloudy to clear skies across the country.

A high-pressure system will move into the area tomorrow, reducing moisture in the air. Rainfall will be less frequent and intense. However, the easterly wind from this system may still bring occasional clouds with light...

We’ve had torrential downpours every day since Sunday, south coast in western San Cristobal province. Good for the crops, bad for anything else.

Last Saturday night we lost electricity, kind of. Kind of, because everyone with a 220 line lost it, and we ended up with a trickle of 110 coming in. Appliances were going bonkers so Mr AE shut everything down. No electric until guy got here about 11 Sunday morning to separate the 220/110. Edesur fixed the 220 a day later, but with the heavy rains the electrician didn’t want to be connecting 220 line. Finally done today.

Of course Murphy’s Law kicked in, and the just serviced generator wouldn’t start, and once it was fixed the adapter/connector for the well pump disappeared.

Life in DR. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A little follow up. A few hours after the 220 line was reconnected, I took a shower (yay! Water pressure for hot water!). As I was leaving the bathroom I heard a POP and light went out. I called Mr AE because I knew something was weird. About same instant the maid yelled for him too, the wire from the water cooler to the outlet was burning thick smoke in the kitchen. Bulbs started popping all over the house. Big noise from washing machine. He unplugged freezer and refrigerator then shut down the electric as fast as he could. Regular electrician came over, guy who connected did something wrong. Result, fried cooler and fried AC in our bedroom, and almost every lightbulb. Going to try the washer this morning, wish me luck 🤞🏻

Electrician was here again late yesterday, says all our wires from pole to house need to be replaced, hopefully today. He was going to San Cristobal to buy them.

PS. Washer fills with water then nothing. 😩

Sounds like a nightmare. Typical of everyone's DR electricity experience.
