Here we are, almost a third of the way through December and getting closer to "Crisma" every day.

Have you got your lights and decorations up?

I still have my pumpkins and fall decor out. I’m a slacker. I may not bother because we’re leaving for DR right after the holidays and won’t have time to take it all down. I’d hate to come home in spring to all that 😂

To me Christmas here is a bit like putting penguins in the desert. I’ll likely be putting up curtains and installing normal lights in the new house next week. Got lots of work to do there.

I did such a good job of installing mine a few years back that I started leaving the wires and just unscrew the bulbs.

I use the blinking C7 bulbs. Each one function independently so if one burns out, the rest keep going. Reminds me of twinkling stars.

No, not this year. We too are traveling right after Christmas, but I guess the main reason is I do not want to drag it all out just to have to put it all away again. Every year I put less and less out. Now our neighbor is a different story. It was really windy here yesterday; I saw him down the street retrieving that huge Santa Claus he puts outside; it is always blowing away when it gets windy. Ever seen the movie with Chevy Chase, Christmas Vacation, well that's our neighbor. I figure he puts up enough decorations for his house and mine together...lol. My in-laws have had their decorations up since like the end of October.

I usually put up the decorations mid November with my kids but this year we didn't do it until the beginning of December. Christmas is not for everyone for different reasons but I am one of those people that absolutely love Christmas and everything about it. My grandfather made Christmas magical for my mum, my mum did the same for me when I was a kid and I have always done the same for my kids. My closest friends call me Mr. Christmas and I have actually influenced some of them to get more into the Christmas spirit which they now really enjoy. It is my thing, something I look forward to each year and my kids absolutely love it which for me is the only thing that matters. You walk into my house and you walk into a Christmas wonderland and it always makes visitors happy. As I said, it is not for everyone, but it is my thing and it makes me happy doing it each year.
