I don't assume that there is a verifiably answer to my query, but what do the Ricos do after 5PM on Fri, Sat, and Sunday nights during the "age of Covid"? Any ideas? Do they all hurry back to the torres in the major cities, like the Capital ,or do they have another way they get through the crisis of closed restaurants and social gathering? Clearly, we have talked the past 5 months about the general population, but I wonder how the "other half" does it. Any thoughts? Remember, this is a board of opinions and there are no wrong answers.
Travel day for me today. Time to check and see the latest happenings at the airport with medical tests, crowd control. new face masks, new regulations and hepa filters.

they do the exact same thing as the Capitaleños just in nicer clothes and shoes, lower volume music, better food, wait staff everywhere(DUH), Land Rovers and they own their villa/condo.

the same things they've always done.
they are not effected by the virus, or any other inconvenience you can think of.

Not sure about the "rich" but I guarantee
you the wealthy are doing whatever they
want, whenever they want, as often as they feel like.

I'm sure that those that live in high end gated communities are still having some very nice house and pool parties. Luxury condos, too. Even in my condo we've had several pool/beach parties(10 people or less), and I'm not rich.

People are travelling internally, entertaining people at their homes, people are becoming better cooks, bar tenders etc or at least helping their staff improve.

A lot of people have been getting to projects that they havent had time for in the past or out of boredom making plans to renovate, buy new furniture etc.

It is no different than middle class and up areas, demographics in the United States. People travel a lot there though so many folks are getting itchy to get to Miami/New York etc

Also, they wash alot. Shoes off when they walk into house everything sprayed down and right into the shower. They are all very paranoid even though they socially gather round the pool. They never walk into a grcery store.ever.

Rich or poor there are many that are into super clean now. EX: my GF lives in SD (weekends for biz) during the week she is boss of our apt in JD. Nobody enters with shoes from the street. Left out in hall. Every grocery item is taken out of bag and washed. Veggies are washed with water and a tint of Clorox. Masks on soon as we leave. Follows most protocols. Super clean woman. But she was always like this. Not new but more of it.

My answer is this, I live in my villa on the beach as I ordinarily do. I close the large iron gate to protect myself from the world. or possible COVID-19 carriers. Occasionally I'll get some food at a restaurant, but i'll sit out on the sand whilst maintaining social distancing (i.e. i'll have a swim , watch for the arrival of my meal and the departure of the waiter, after-which i'll seat myself at the table). Sitting inside the restaurant will place me at risk. Eating at resturants is better than me wandering through the shop aisles to find food, as the risk of exposure is quite high. It truly is best if I have my maid drop down to the market and buy what I need.
I will have a maid take my washing to the cleaners and maybe do some shopping for me but she is kindly asked to leave my washing and food outside my gate. She takes her pay of 500 pesos for the days work and departs. I simply cant risk her bringing any infection into my residence and life. However, I have supplies delivered twice a week. we coordinate with whatsapp. Obviously, my maid cant enter my house to clean it so I am forced to use only 1 bedroom room, kitchen/bathroom and living room (1000 sq ft) because once I make a mess I know I will never clean it up (i'm hopeless at cleaning). This mess will be all over my house in 2 days. If i utilized the rest of my 4000 sq ft home I'd make a mess everywhere and the house would stink to high heaven. It's best if I live small. It's kind of uncomfortable and not to my liking but im getting used to it. Getting out onto the beach does make it easier as I get to step out from my little box. I have to take on more duties like using the pool scooper'er to get the leaves out of my pool+ chemicalize it. I have no idea whet this process is called as I normally have a cleaner come to fix my pool each week .To be honest these changes are kind of stressful and annoying). I lead a more solitary existence now, but so what, I have a pool at the front of my property, a beach within 30 metres ( i have surf boards, and a jetski), a Harley in the garage and an ATV. I'm kind of set, as all of my toys only require me to operate them. No longer do I take out some hot Dominican on the back of my jetski...what the hell, they cant swim anyways ( I was always nervous should they fall off the the ski). Thats my life and its not particularly easy

I posted this in another thread -- putting it here too
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think -
The ex-pats have a responsibility here.... not to bitch
but to assist - to educate- to help those who don't understand how to live with, to cope with this problem

We are better educated, more stable financially.... plenty of pluses

Get active - proactive.......... DO SOMETHING!!!!

besides preach...........

Sorry for preaching ---- hahaha

------------------------------------------------------------
Roger...
I let my people in.....
and they SCRUB the place to keep us all clean

You might need to 'let go' a little.....

we can only go so long w/o social interaction

Good Luck to you
