I have used que mono on my children once in a blue moon or maybe even less frequently. They don't like it either. Must run in the family.

hillbilly is right. In santiago, if you want a beeper girl (call girl), they ask for a cuero. Sluts who hang at bars and get picked up by men are also cueros. Any slut is a cuero and any hooker is a cuero.
AZB

P.S, cuero is also "leather", ex: handbag made out of cuero.
cuero also means "naked". It all depends on how you use the word.

RP23,

I guess you missed the ps in the above quote.

I also get a kick out of it every time when I hear someone bring up Cuero Duro, un campo en Moca.

to futher this question i got another part i want to ask about

My boyfriend calls me a cuero. I wasn't sure if it was bad or not. Then i said don't call me that. He says "e so de carino" i guess like i'm his little hoe. So anyways i said ok then you're my cabron. He responds as saying hey that's a bad term to call a guy down here. You shouldn't say that espeically when you're down here visiting Sosua. Anyone care to elaborate on this alittle more.

Thanks~!

kidding or not if you allow your b/f to call you a cuero what will he call you if and when he loses respect or is angry at you?

Always demand respect and you will get it.;) And don't call him names in return as well.

How would you feel if he said " this is my cuero" in front of his friends" ?

Please girls have respect for yourselves and don't let anyone call you such names.

I agree with Anna. He knows very well what cuero means and I would find it really degradating. Been here 9 years and have never heard anyone refer to their girl as a cuero in affectionate terms...

Context is everything. The expression 'cuero' is used nonderogatorily in a coy, intimate, affectionate manner. Of course, you do not call a woman 'cuero' in public, it's a put-down if you do.

"My boyfriend calls me a cuero. I wasn't sure if it was bad or not. "

I dunno, Suzy. I would never call my wife a cuero, not even just kidding. It is true that the word is a little slippery, but most of the people I know here (and a rum lot they are too!), when they speak of cueros, they dont just mean a girl who likes to fool around alot, it is a derogatory term. There are a lot of other terms your boyfriend can call you, so tell him to pick another or keep at him with cabron. Are you sure this guy is on the level?

I cannot stand when the homeboys back in the States call their women bitches, hoes, and such things, either. I am soooo tired of this gangsta crap. And now you see it everywhere here too. lamentablemente.

If he calls you "cuero" o "puta" during intimacy, what's wrong with that? Although I respect other posters wishes for their mate not to call them such things, public or not, I still don't see anything wrong with playing around with words when you are with your gf/wife.

Cabron is a bad term to call your man !

The problem is this is a macho society. You (a guy) can call cuero to your girl (in private of course) but your girl can't call you cabr?n (only when fighting the lack of support for the kids).

Now, this cuero calling is more common in the low end of the society.

If he called you cuero, now you know in what end he is.

Since I'm not Dominican (I'm Ecuadorean and from a macho society), I prefer to call them "putas" :D If that means I'm in the low end of society because you as a superior end qualifies me in that way, so be it ! I guess you must be one of those people that has never said fu.. you or any insults in your life, because that's what low end people would say.. Right ?

Do you have an harem?

What I am talking about is a woman -not a slut- being called cuero by her partner. If she is a slut there is no surprise and she should not feel offended by that name being used on her.

Now, for some people, to engage in this type of name calling during intimacy is a turn on. I suppose you are talking about this. Otherwise, I am afraid your social skills "dejan mucho que desear".

Hello Lil Susy!

I am just writing in hope that you will enter my contest in the sanky section. But seriously, your man is calling you "cuero." Could be allright, and might be yucky.

Now, if you are in bed, it is A-okay to talk "dirty."

If you're in public and he only just now figured out that you forgot to wear undies, and he whispers it..........ok.

If he says it in front of ANYONE at all, then dump his shaggy a$$.

Hay preguntas? (Any questions?).

Like any other translation to or from Spanish, it all depends. On the context.

Now enter my contest, you hottie! -- Samee

A veces tengo un harem :D

Seriously, I think my previous post indicated that I don't see a problem for a man to call a women a puta during intimacy. Yes, I was talking about that !

But when you said this The problem is this is a macho society. You (a guy) can call cuero to your girl (in private of course) but your girl can't call you cabr?n (only when fighting the lack of support for the kids). I was referring that cabron would not be considered dirty talk - it does sound kinda kinky, but most guys wouldn't like it. That's my personal opinion !
