Where to go for good cigar factory visit?

I'm hoping to visit a decent cigar factory of a well known brand. Where's best and easiest to visit - anything in the capital? Or is it Santiago area that's better or La Romana?
I don't really want an over-hyped package trip ideally, just casually go independently if that's possible.

Call before you go. We went once, and they were shut down. Apparently they shut down seasonally when they are not working. I even tried to bribe the guard but he would not let us take a tour.
