Dominican Today news site just posted that stem cell treatments are illegal in the DR and existing clinics will be told to stop treatment. Reason given is that stem cell treatment has not been scientifically proven to work. Who is going to tell Armando the bad news??

Isn't it more the fact that the clinics here are based upon research of the Korean companies that has been declared last year not to be according to the existing rules so their studies are not valid at this time?
Mexico has some validated clinics in this specific area, maybe patients who are here currently under treatment can be transferred to there...if realistic possible of course.

If the doctor is working with not correctly validated procedures, I sure do hope that anybody with legal expertise will stop them.
Not all stem cells are equal, nor are all SC therapies equal. Back in the day we used to perform IV hydration and prophylactic anti-biotic home infusion after stem cell harvesting for breast cancer chemo treatments. It's been around for years.
The rub comes when scammers promise miracles without actual peer reviewed efficacy studies. There are numerous medical "scam watch" organizations that point out the scams and some are in the DR.
If the ones here have a whiff of scam they need to be shut down. Legit ones should welcome the regulatory authorities with open arms...and studies.
If the Mayo or Cleveland Clinic folks opened an SCT center here I'd say "legit."
But when a casino owner and penny stock mogul does...well, my Scam Alarm starts ringing.

I wonder how many doctors, nurses, lab technicians have hands on CT experience and if there are people with QA experience in the DR.
QA? Doubt it. Not any regulatory/accreditation agencies that require reams of onerous paperwork I know of.
There are several CT's around. Not first generation, but the malpractice laws are different here so no need for the latest/greatest as long as the job gets done.
I found out recently an old colleague sells refurbed high-tech ICU/PCU/Anesthesia equipment (Ohmeda) to a dealer in the DR. I assume there are similar channels for CT, MRI and X-ray machines.

But LOL anyway if you think serious paperwork is going to get done on a basis for actual research in the DR. Like I said, have you ever been to a medical records room here? Darlin', you'd be in for quite the shock...

Employing more Dominicans in skilled positions would be positive, right?
I knew a guy here who went to North Korea and got stem cell treatment for his COPD, which it helped for a while, but had the added benifit of permenantly correcting his myopia. I couldnt make this up if I wanted to.
