It must have come from the right side of the brain, not the left. English is a tough language to remember all the rules.

english is easy because it is flexible and the rules are absolute. Spanish got all types of archaic rules of grammar. Coupled with a billion verb tenses and gender specific nouns and articles, sheesh!

not only that but the form of address is so formal.. I can write in English and then have my secretary translate it into "proper" Spanish.. which includes a great deal of enquiries over the recipient?s health, the many thanks for the informative interview, the thanks for the cafecito... and takes twice as many words.

Whenever I am in a group meeting in Spanish, I first apologize for the mistakes that I am about to make. I had about 15 years of French study so am quite certain of my grammar (still make mistakes) but in Spanish, I think that most of the time I am using the wrong tense.. or most certainly the wrong gender.

Even in English, I make mistakes.. as was just noted.

But I do think that it keeps one?s brain working. I find that when I actually get to think in another language (which does happen on occassion) my thought patterns conform to the language. Life is more poetic in French, more loving in Spanish, more efficient in English.

I feel sorry for those ex pats who live here but have not learned the language.

But English is more difficult to read and decode. In Spanish and French the rules of pronunciation are fixed while in English, well try ??through?and ?bough??-- beats me... and it is my mother tounge

English is pretty widely regarded as a difficult language. Probably because it's really a mixture of languages, Romance, Saxon, Germanic, probably some Nordic thrown in there. I'd have to say that the rules are not written in stone either. I before E, EXCEPT after C, OR when pronounced "A" as in neighbor and weigh... kinda says it all, doesn't it? LOL

Here's a joke, (I just love poking fun at myself):

When a person speaks two languages, they are said to be bilingual.

When a person speaks THREE languages, they are said to be TRILINGUAL.

When a person speaks only one language, they are said to be AMERICAN. (meaning, U.S. Americans, lol).

A couple of years ago when my wife and I enrolled in Spanish class at our community college, I happened to mention it to my father, (in his late 70's and old-school). His response was: "Why?" LOL

Do you mean F&I....as in Finance and Insurance?

As in, when you walk into your office with a 276.00 per month for 48 months payment.

By the time YOU get through with them, the payments at 344.00 per month for 60.

Ha!!!!..NOT that there's anything wrong with that, I know plenty of F&I "personalities"

One of them is nicknamed "The shredder"

Nice fantasy life rice&beans. I knew I liked you for a reason! <joking>
Your post reminds me of 2 brothers I met and had fun with for a week while they were on vacation in the DR. They were both nice people. At the end of the week one brother asked me which one I liked better. Which one would I choose to know better? He told me that one of them was a rich lawyer and the other bagged groceries at a small town supermarket. I told him that I would pick the nicer one and the one who treated a woman with respect. (after only one week I didn't know which one qualified more) Interesting.............. I never did find out which was which....it didn't matter....I had fun for a week with both of them.

I am, quite simply, The Most Interesting Man Alive. My words carry weight that would break the jaw of a less interesting individual. And I am the life of parties I've never attended. Police often question me, just because they find me interesting.

I bowl overhand. And I've won trophies for my game face alone. My personality is so magnetic, I am unable to carry credit cards.

I live vicariously through myself. My legend precedes me the way lightning precedes thunder.

I've been known to cure narcolepsy, just by walking into the room.

I am The Most Interesting Man Alive.
