Ignorance really exists. I guess that you have done plenty of research to conclude that Hispanics do not have the gene to play football. Do not make me laugh please. :classic:

try not to confuse reality with ignorance ,just look at the facts ,is not a mystery why we are not present in the nfl ,this is well known through out the sports world.

First think of the average size of the hispanic or latin american male (american football players are getting bigger every year,so size is definitly a "must have" in football)

Think of how many hispanics play in the nfl (i doubt there is more than 10 if not definitly less then 20) compared to blacks and whites

do the same for baseball , basketball , and other sports where size is not as important ,you will notice how much more present Hispanic/latin americans are

and i will tell you like Daddy Yankee says "los numeros hablan por si solo"

Remember that Luis Castillo is the first Dominican in NFL.

Castillo was the first Dominican drafted in the 1st round, but not the first Dominican in the NFL.

I wonder, does Dominican Republic pay any attention to soccer(futbol)? Do you guys even have regional teams like many other Latin American countries?

Now that we're completely off-topic

"Another reason why most hispanics don't choose to play American Football is because it is a very high impact sport that can put you out of comission in a fraction of a second.Boxing is the closest that most dominicans would go as far as high impact sports."
I'm calling that crap.

Sports are introduced to countries. It's more a case of happenstance; be it proximity, socioeconomic, cultural — or perhaps an invasion!

Hispanics don't play football because they haven't any history to it.

It has nothing to do with high impact. Haven't you ever seen the motoconcho drivers?

Give me a dozen of them and I'll have the best "special teams" in the NFL.

Why do you think they call them "special?"

As to why Dominicans aren't in football, just consider that it's never been introduced here (I mean "there") on any level. It's also is an equipment-intensive sport ($$), requires multiple coaches, large play/practice facilities, etc. That all but eliminates it from the public and scholastic level - in the DR.

[My best Jerry Seinfeld]
What's the deal with Samuel Dalembert of the Pilly Sixers? I know he's "from" Haiti, but I heard he grew up in the DR?

I mean, if ARod is Dominican, this guy is full-blooded.

American football is not played in the DR simply because it has never been properly introduced, per se. The only reason that some people know about it is because the bancas where people place bets always show the games. But believe me, there are plenty of Dominicans with the body type for the game. And look at all the football teams for high schools in the Tri-State area and you'll rarely find one that doesn't have a player of Dominican descent.

Yeah but they never get passed that , i know plenty of Dominicans that came from very good teams(Hudson County ,NJ, especially from Union Hill,Emerson , Hoboken, Memorial , and North Bergan High school) , but when they go to college they are no match for whats out there ,you see kids who were all state turn to crap in college becuase of the competition, and that goes for most latinos, Luis Castillo's case is rare , but then again he is f***ing huge .

But even he had to cheat a little to get where he is at, im not sayin he shouldnt have done it ,but thats another topic . All im sayin is that just how West Africans are not good distance runners and East africans are not the best sprinters is the same way hispanics/latin americans are not built for football(American)

Right now Dominican soccer is still not very good , they are making strides(even though they are still INCREDIABLLY DISORGANIZED AND BEING POORLY MANAGED), little by little the federation is sending out the younger players overseas so they can develop into better players and have better oppurtunitys to play on prestigous clubs . Most recently a Dominican goalie was signed to play for America F.C in the Brazilian first division, the club is pretty decent and its the highest level a Dominican product has gone too(the Espinal brothers in Italy played in Calcio Serie A but they were raised in Italy so they are more products of the Itatian System) he is also young so he has time to grow , Junior Mejia is still playing in El Salvador (one of the best goalies playing in the league) hopefully he can go on to play in Mexico , Victor Nunez ,who from the last time i checked played for ajalluense , incredibally talented foward , but is committed to playing for the Costa Rican Natioanl team(big loss for Dr federation) The Espinal brothers are in Italy playing serie C1/C2 , right now Vinicio is doing very well with Monza Brianza F.C they won the Serie C championship last season and look like they will win it again this season ,hopefully the team can be up lifted to Serie B , Jose is playing with a team in serie C as well not sure which club though , he was injured for about a year so he is gradually gettin back to shape.Currently there are about 3 Dominicans playing on youth squads in Mexico and are working on getting more into youth squads in Argentina and Europe. There is definitly a huge pool of talent in Dr for soccer but they dont market well .Most Dominican kids beleive that if they cant play baseball or basketball , that no other sports exist ,there are some towns that hold soccer in good regard such as Jarabacoa ,Mao,Moca,Salcedo,La Vega,Bayaguana ,and San Cristobal. They just need someone to idolize so the fever can catch on .In the states Dominicans stay away from soccer becuase of fear on being made fun of and told "Dominicans dont play soccer" ,Most dont know that DR has a national team (not too active to even be recignized),and if told to name a Dominican Soccer player wouldnt be able to say anything .However, Dominicans who move to the suburbs find it easier to adapt to the sport ,since it is open to everyone ,not just Central and South Americans. So it just takes time
