The Dominican Republic exports eggs to Cuba, Haiti, and Guyana, with an average monthly volume of 50 million eggs, according to Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz. This information came in response to inquiries about the country’s egg exports and whether they include the United States, where eggs are costing unprecedented highs due to the threat of bird flu, as reported in Listin Diario.

Don't think they can export them to the US cheaper than they are now, since prices are dropping like a rock in the US.

Well, for one Dominican eggs aren’t washed as those in the USA before hitting supermarket shelves. Washing them as in the USA means removing a thin layer that covers the shell. When that’s removed, it makes the shell easier for bacteria to penetrate the egg. Hence, in the USA eggs have to be refrigerated while that’s not the case in the DR.

With that said, how many people in the DR and elsewhere Dominican eggs are exported to have died or got sick from eating them?
