Hi Miss November,

I'm not sure if your Blackberry will work in the DR. I had two cell phones with me when I went there in June and July. One from Sask-Tel and one from Telus Mobility and neither of them worked. Also, neiher of them are sim card compatible so my guess, and that's all it is is that your Blackberry probably won't work either.

I hope I'm wrong.

Take care and I hope everything works out for you in the DR.

Unless they have changed in the past 6 months, both Tri-Com and Codetel will activate your Bell phone. I have one that I used to have activated both Bell and Tri-Com. When in Canada I use Nam.1 (Bell) and Nam. 2 (Tri-Com) for the DR.

You can make your cell phone work they by contacting the carrier before you leave. I am not sure about the internet portion but the cell portion, I just called Sasktel and they made my phone work, very very expensiver though.

Well, thank you very much. I would have never thought of that. I'm not going to do it however because I am on vacation and the darned cell phone can stay home :)

lol

Thanks again

i wouldn't have put it quite like that but since you did...:cheeky::bunny::bunny:
ok that was pointless , to the question, im probably ASKING that question because MAYBE i have 2 phones? dont u think? one that is mine and one who my friend has an is willing to lend it to me...but no i must be stupid to ask that question then..
...but you do appear to make contradictory and confusing posts...and bite the heads off of those that try and assist you.

you've started 13 threads, so far,
http://www.dr1.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2728306 asking/begging/demanding/announcing but seem to think you know everything already.

pretty amazing considering you have had 2 whole trips, to AI's in Punta Cana. Hardly the basis for being such a know-it-all :ermm:

of course if you did understand the DR you wouldn't need to ask for/demand so many answers. :tired:

my blackberry quesiton had NOTHING at all to do with any of those! i bite poeple heads off because they , pick on people like me, when they know they can just bite there own tongues! was it really necessary to point out that i have a blackberry from rogers? and then i have another one from bell?
HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE to the question that was asked here
i asked a question regarding a BELL PHONE and u reply to me saying dont u have a rogers phone!? WHERE DO U SEE THE CONNECTION THERE?
its from people like you, that make people like me, have problems with other people on the forum!
next time just keep pointless comments to yourself!
im already streesed up to my ears and i am simply askning a quesiton and you have nothing better to do then pick on me?
WOHOO the forum is laughing with you now! happy?did that make u feel complete?
im done with this

First of all, I live in the DR most of the time. About cell phones...

1. Some will work in the DR with their original programming. However, you will be ROAMING internationally, and it will be very $$$$$$$$.

2. A phone with a sim card (chip) can be activated (Dominican telephone number) with either Claro (Codetel) or Orange.

3. The phone without a chip, IF it is CDMA (I am not Canadian, so I don't know if Bell Mobility is CDMA or TDMA) can be activated (Dominican number) with Tricom, Centennial or Claro.

3. A TDMA phone CANNOT be activated in the DR.

You need to check with the Canadian carrier to determine if the Bell Mobility phone is CDMA or TDMA.

ITS NOT NORMAL BECAUSE.....

why would you need to have your friends if you already have one?????

why bother unlocking a bell phone if you have a rogers phone that has a sim & can easily be changed over to Orange

and i have read your posts....I have commented on your posts...and I have given valuable input & suggestions to your posts

You said in another post that you are going to come back in a few months & tell us all that we don't know what we are talking about and prove everyone wrong....

I guess we will see....wont we

Thanks, I corrected it. As I said, not Canadian, so not familiar with the carriers there although I am familiar with the cell phone carriers in the DR.
