Will the Peso ever go back to Parity with the Dollar now that Import is increasing and national reserves are increasing?

Relation with the U.S. dollar

The United States dollar is used as a reserve currency by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. Also, when agreed by both parties, both U.S. dollars and the euro can be used in private transactions (this applies mostly in tourism-related activities). This was most true during the drastic inflationary period of 2003–2004. Nowadays the U.S. dollar is widely accepted and tourists visiting the Dominican Republic can use it as a second currency.

Historical exchange rates

Historically, since the first monetary emission in 1948, the peso was worth about the same as a United States dollar.

The exchange rate for U.S. dollar vs. Dominican peso over the last few decades is as follows:

  • 1984 US$1 to RD$1.45
  • 1993 US$1 to RD$5
  • 1998 US$1 to RD$8
  • 2002 US$1 to RD$20
  • 2003 US$1 to RD$37.5
  • 2004 US$1 to RD$46.7
  • 2006 US$1 to RD$32
  • 2007 US$1 to RD$35.29
  • 2008 US$1 to RD$34.93
  • 2009 US$1 to RD$36
  • 2012 US$1 to RD$40.5
  • 2013 US$1 to RD$40.4
  • 2016 US$1 to RD$45

Give it another 10 years and the Dominican Peso will probably be worth more than the USD. America's transition to Socialism is gonna be rough. Smart people have already started preparing for it as they continue printing wellfare money out of thin air.

Debt to income ratio is a good starting point.
The only reason the dollar is held as the world's reserve/ currency of trade is due the deal we inked with Saudis several years ago and the fact that our economy has been the biggest ever since.
Things are changing.
It's no longer if but when.
When was the last time we audited the country's gold reserves?
We keep playing games with other country's economies in the name of defending democracy and a lot of nations are growing tired of our moral grand standing. China's not building a Navy that size for Taiwan. They have much larger ambitions.

A bank here failed. Can't remember the name(?).
Seems to happen about once every 10 years or so.

Could it ? Yes.
Will it ? Most likely not...... DR and the US are kind of joined at the hip. If the US goes down, so does the DR.

The next few decades will be interesting:. A US dollar based on fukc all for the past 30 years vs a chinese yuan so opaque nobody has a clue what it is actually worth ........ might be good for my swiss francs 🤣🤣🤗🤗

There's so much laundered cash on the streets and in the banks here, if we had the real number the peso would be at 100
