The accusatory file establishes that the outcome of the big procurement tenders carried out by the Attorney General Office under former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez were decided beforehand. The “winners” committed to pay at least 20% for the privilege. Chief prosecutor Wilson Camacho is talking about RD$1 billion in paid bribes.

With the presentation of charges on Saturday, 2 July 2022 for the so-named Medusa Operation, state prosecutors accuse the former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez and accomplices of directing major corruption schemes.

If true they accepted than much money they should get 30 years.
Rotting in prison is the only way to discourage the next guy.
Greed is not good, and once the corruption is ingrained it is near impossible to reverse.

And we see the same thing from 1st world countries 'washing money" for the Big Guys

20% is the industry standard (excuse the pun) for kickbacks on contracts.

So, according to the article, Rafael Canó Sacco, Jean Alain Rodriguez's right-hand man and chief of staff of the PGR, is not named as an accomplice. However, he flew the coop prior to the arrests of those implicated. Arrested in Spain last October, he has yet to be extradited.

It pays to be a State witness: you stay out of prison and keep all the ill-gotten money.

It pays to be a State witness: you stay out of prison and keep all the ill-gotten money.
They get a stay out of jail card but they're not keeping the money. The best way to avoid jail is return what was stolen.
