The whole point of an Ai is to offer get-away vacations for tourists. It does not compare to the capital where there are many business visitors in a more pricey real estate environment.
Anything north of $150/night per person and the whole appeal of DR fades. The beaches aren't something you can't find elsewhere
Ok, thanks, you clarified your price was based per person. Based on 2 people at $150 each, that would be $300 per night. That is about average for a lower mid-range resort, more or less, especially during the off-season. $1000.00 a night, those resorts cater to a different type of tourist, not your average tourist. Some are willing to pay more for a better resort. I do not think it affects the appeal of the DR at all. Just the opposite, it gives travelers a better range of resorts at different price ranges. For example, when we would take all the kids in the family on a quick weekend trip to Punta Cana, we would stay at more of a mid-priced resort. When it was an adult trip, we would stay at a higher priced resort.
