I walk it at least once a week to an office across the block from Blue mall. I pass the same people often. Another thing to factor in is parking, which is a hassle. The thread is about crime, so my point is from Sarasota Ave up to Blue Mall is an ultra-safe 22-minute walk. Walking is certainly not for everyone. The beefy and cardiopulmonary challenged should stick to uber or one of those electric scooters. .

Issues with obese people I see?

This time of the year I wouldn't walk a block anywhere in the DR much less the city of SD; and going across from Churchill to 27th February ave on foot is total craziness and ghetto may I remind you again - I rather have my chauffeur take me - much more safer that way.

LOL...you are so wrong...I know what that walk entails very well..I have lived in Santo Domingo for well over 29 years and actually not that far from the Blue Mall.....thank you...now moving on...

Then if you do - you know for a fact that it isn't safe and its very much ghetto

I don't have any idea what being getto is but I walk everywhere I possibly can. To the grocery store, about maybe 10 blocks with my shopping buggy. I walk my dogs 2xs a day everywhere. Barrio Chino. Colonial Zone. Simonico. Mirador Este. Mameyes. They go with me walking to the bank and pharmacy too. All the barrios with my dogs, a baggy t-shirt, old tennis and a stick that I've used to hit a few humans with. I just thought I was a human with not a lot of monies to take taxis everywhere and didn't want to sit at home all day. But then I never really cared what others thought of me.

Last Tuesday I walked from Parque Enriquillo to Caribe Tours on 27 de Febrero a little before dusk, around 5 pm. It's about 40 minutes. A little ghetto I guess but still something I've done many times with zero problems.

You said it - a little ghetto and unsafe specially for the area in question; not a chance I'll ever do it unless its a must

I think it's just a matter of how risk averse you are to certain things. I like intermingling with Dominican culture and walking in the barrios is a great way to do it. Would I do it at midnight? No way but then there's no reason to either.

we all know the only chauffeur you have is Fausto the moto taxi driver. It's evident by your selection on your banner. But thanks for supporting the local economy. Churchill is a much safer walk crime wise than most cities anywhere. Of course, crossing streets is dangerous. That is any time of the year. and yes. I do have issues with obesity, I am trying not to be so overt about my disdain for laziness. Except my apologies sir. Get out and walk, you will not be kidnapped and held for ransom I assure you.

My Chauffeur name is Juan and I place him at your order when needed, won't charge you a penny for the ride, whatever it takes to keep a fellow DR1er safe and sound and off of the streets of one of the most criminal ridden cities in the planet, to say otherwise would be egregious in nature.

Its a fact, not even Dominicans themselves have faith in what could happen to their safety as the situation stands right now - more than 60% of the populace feel unsafe going about their business but some of you chose to walk your dogs and cats in the street of the barrios just because...ummm?

Going across Blue Mall to Sarasota won't get you as healthy, muscular or otherwise as fit as you would like to believe, and even worst; as you would like to sell it to others - is ghetto, unsafe and unproductive, if you are obese; there are other methods to counter it, if fitness is the goal, I suggest your sign up at the Gold Gym but for the love of God and your own safety this xmas - do not walk the streets or suggest to others that is safe to do so, that won't be just ghetto - it'll also be foolish.

Any issues with my banner?

Stay safe, stay classy DR1!

My wife's walks the streets in Jarabacoa at o530 am every weekday, and although there are some areas in the town that are a little dangerous at night, she scoffs at people that tell her she is in danger. She has five dogs with her two males and three females. They are good sized, fast, and bark at lot. I would say only the one female is ferocious. Obviously, the capital is a different animal.

Send me the number of your free taxi. I need to take my dogs to the vet and we would love to go to the beach.

I am very familiar with the capital, visit there often, lots of relatives. My wife has 9 brothers and sisters that live there, and she went to university there for 9 years. I have walked in many areas of the capital, but only during the day.

Radical stop with fear mongering about walking in Santo Domingo...it is totally unnecessary. There is no need for you to comment on this any further.

You can't turn back time Sir, but a few Community College courses is a start.
