Do you think people will actually pay the fines? What if millions refuse to pay? This is just other garbage wasteful spending

I would guess that unpaid fines would keep you from renewing the marbete...if so, once that word gets around, maybe most would pay up. I wonder though, how will people be notified they were ticketed? (if that was answered in the video portion of the link, my apologies as I didn't listen)

What's the issue? People complain because there are too many idiots on the roads causing accidents and then complain when a solution is presented. These radars have been used in many other countries for years with positive results. If you don't pay the fine, you can't renew your Marbete....just like any other traffic infraction.

Radars have been in use across this country for many years. How they use them going forward (in practice) remains to be seen.

Buddy of mine and I were talking about this earlier after I read the following headline on DT'oday's website "DIGESETT activates new digital radars for speed control on the country’s main roads"
He got caught once, paid RD$1,000 on the spot and went about his day no problem.

That actually makes sense and sounds feasible. Yes, no idea of the notification part but if there's a definite suspension on the matricula for marbete renovation until the multa is paid, that cannot be "worked around" by anyone, then I suppose this could work. This would be excellent. But, they would need to be able to show evidence of when and where did I have an infraction and the photo if I wanted.

Today in POP, almost 10 Digesett agents in the corner of Malecon and Hermanas Mirabal looking for no idea what. One pasola in front of us decided it was smarter to make a quick u turn and speed away.... They had no motores stopped, just 4 SUVs...

Wow what a achievement LOL. That's technology used all over Europe since the 80' . Certainly a good Moneymaker but i doubt that it will result in less mortality.
100% agreed.
Drivers don't need to drive all that fast to kill one another.
