SOOOOOOO... I suppose there's no last minute rush to clean the stores out of milk, bread, cereal, eggs, toilet paper, and coffee, in the hours leading up to a big storm, like in the U.S. supermarkets that get their shelves stripped bare at the first hint of a snow storm up north?????

THAT's what "Colmados" R 4 !!!!

that is exactly how i figured it. too many days with nothing in the refrigerator, so let us make up for those days by splurging good today.

Especially when someone else payed for the items in question. They seem to be very generous with stuff that's not theirs.

As a second career I taught school in Florida. I became a behavior modification expert. Moved wife's Dominican kids to US. I tried for two years to teach the middle son to take out the garbage on Wed and Fri. After two years I gave up. They are like cats and cannot be trained.

THEY are ALL ALIKE HERE!

As I continue to stare at the "MT" gas tank by the front door!!!!
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

We should have a contest to see who has the most tin cans, hacked open by your "Best Knife", sitting in your refrigerator????????

ps,....I stopped buying any "Best Knives" 15 years ago!!!!

CCCCCCCCCCC,
ole Fu.kcer!!!
you got that a 100% right and hit one of my most vulnerable points.
as you may imagine,
as a Fishaman i own PROUDLY REAL Fillet Knifes and alikes.
sure they are very sensible, should only be used for their sole purpose, and that's to cut FILLETTS!!!
we're on the same "result" of Island Life Experience,
no more real fillet knifes in da house for me.
i have here at this moment only 2 or 3, each one is a old long ago retired of a formerly nice fillet knife.
of course they by now show the "hits" by t-bone and chicken bone and pork bone and whatsoever****ingbone,
I do NOT CARE!!!
because to cut my fishies, i just use MY knifes on my boats.
in the house kittchen, i am not ashamed anymore to cut my Beef in front of my friends for the BBQ with those old ex-fillet knifes. i do NOT care.
i don't know when i stopped to bring a new proudly purchased real knife Home to da kittchen,
your mentioned 15 years ago time span sounds about perfectly correct to me, too.
btw,
GAS Tanks my Azz.
just this morning i called my buddy in Higuey, to let hi know that i want a smaller tank, that i am willing to switch my big azz tank for a small 5 gallon tank.
Why?
because the Empty 5 gallon tank(when the BBQ tank also is empty of course, as USUAL at the same time) is light enough for the MRS to carry it downstairs and hand it over to a darn Motoc?o driver to get her refill.
I will myself only ride up da road for a refill when i ge the empty tank with the otha tank still filled/Gas in it to use.
No More Last Minute Late Night Gas Tank Adventures for Me.

i imagine to buy her a car running on Gas.
sure every otha week i could observe her to get the car towed to the Propane Gas Station by a Motoco?o.
I may just buy her such car, just to enjoy to observe her "gas" experiences, lol.
it's weekend.
tomorrow's Lunch BBQ and afternoon pooltime will be at my buddy's place.
so i am safe for myself in case of GAS.
but his girlie is dominican,
i may just call him NOW to assure that we don't get a funny situation, mid afternoon when the chicken and ribbs are just on medium done.

hey Man.
you brought the Kid to Florida.
everything is done Latin styled there.
almost 30 years ago i enjoyed the cuban coffee shops for breakfast.
it would have helped if i would have spoken some spanish,
but at that time i was proud to be able to communicate nicely in english, one of the reasons i choose the USA for my extended stays.
just barely anyone found to communicate with.
todays, fluent in spanish, it sure is a nice place to have a chat, lol.

Oh! My mother-sticking god! Those Dominican folks are awful!

I don't think they are awful, it's just some of their habits are different which is sometimes hard for someone from a different culture to understand. I am sure there are many things that gringos do that Dominicans do not understand.

You know what else I enjoy? My non stick pans. The ones I bought when Ingrid and I got divorced 5 years ago.

They still look like the day I bought them. I was beginning to think that wasn't even possible.

Oh, for those of you who have met Ingrid. She's happily remarried to an Italian fellow and had a baby a few months ago.

who's da Daddy??

congratulations, Ingrid.

some may love about that,
but even that very most cooking is done by the Mrs, and no complaints from my side, i like her cooking,
I have my own FryPan in the kittchen, it is by death sentence prohibited to touch my frypan,
it's only used by myself, for MY Meats, when Mikey is for a day alone at home.
i don't remember when i bought it, been years ago, still looks like new.
don't get me started to tell how often the Mrs needs a new replacement on the 3 Pans she is using, lol.

my Daughters face signals me clearly, for the better of my health, that i should now get the microwave started for her Palomitas. i promised that in case she gets her room organized this eve. she did, so Palomitas it will be now.

Aluminium Crap

Obviously Ingrid was not fond of those playthings, and rightly so, IMO they are useless utensils (base is aluminium).

You want the real thing:
https://www.lodgemfg.com/skillets-and-covers/13-25-inch-cast-iron-skillet.asp

Such a tool, correctly seasoned, will also serve as a non-stick pan.
And, if needed, you can hit somebody over the head with it...fatally.... :bunny:

After 40 years of subtle training, I'm finally getting Mr. AE to refill the BBQ propane tank when he connects the spare. Sometimes.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I was trained by my mother to have enough of everything in the house at all times, in case of a nuclear attack or war :) We could have survived in our basement for 6 months.

Old habits are hard to break, for me and for him.

Good up til that point, but then you'd emerge from the basement and be a snack for radioactive mutant zombies. I saw the movie.

Always the MOST EXPENSIVE knive to open a can.
Even if there a lots of cheap ones around, they pick the new 20$ one to destroy.

ALL my high quality kitchen equipment was abused.

Neighbor takes some food home:
give away the heat-resistant glas bowl to never see it again.
Or lend a stainless steel bucket.

Gave up long ago.

Today buying only cheap china ware.

I hide the few good knives I have left and lock up my tools. Every non stick pan we have ever bought was ruined by scraping it with knives. Even using non stick pans they fill them half up with that cheap cooking oil to cook one egg. I know better than to try and tell them they do not need oil. I have completely given up explaining anything and I am now strictly in a self defense mode working to not let anything they do interrupt my serenity. They did get me good this week. They tossed out by the garbage cans a length of wood with one big nail sticking up. Of course I walked on it taking out the garbage. That one destroyed my serenity but so far no sign of infection. Every day is a new lesson.
