I thought it might be fun to have a thread with images that let you KNOW you are in the DR. These are two of my favorites of "typical DR".

I'm sure you took the pictures in the DR, but if I should suddenly be transported to one of those locations, without knowing where I was going, I would not know I was in the DR. I've seen scenes just like these in other countries.

Andy,

That first pic has got to be photoshopped. How can a man in a bicycle be carying the chasis of a car like that?

That's the whole pinot of this thread, isn't it.
Some things are so incredible in this country, that one does not know whether to believe his eyes, or not.
Of course, unless his tires are made of solid rubber, it seems unlikely they could support that wieght Then again, it looks like an old Volkswagen, which everybody knows, are made out of old recycled beer cans.

I would have to believe it as I have seen some strange sights. You must admit some are very creative individuals. If there is a will there is a way to get the job done.

If the car is minus an engine, trans and most heavy components it is possible for the weight to be distributed amongst the 3 tires.

Yes, but they would be flatter, don't you think?

To be honest I don't know what to think. LOL You should know better than me that it is possible to happen in the DR.

I printed the pic and it sure looks real to me. The shadow of the car, how it is resting on the bike, the gentlemen's left arm is inside the car to balance it. I don't see any reason for someone to try to fake this pic.

I will be in Sosua on the 15th, just make sure you have some ribs available and I also want to try the garlic mashed potatoes.

If it is then they did an incredible job. Notice how the shadow on the ground matches exactly with the object. I believe it's real...

That really old truck where those guys are standing next to drinking reminds me of a guy in my hometown that had a really really old truck just like that. Everybody was amzed that the thing still ran. To top it off he had a very nice radio with large speakers in it. You could hear it in the whole town. You'd think some nice Jeepeta was coming down the road and then you saw this...thing...

Very funny stuff...

Here is another one:

If I remember correctly I received that same pic through an email but it had asian signs on the background, so it might be a photoshop work. If is true i have to see with my own eyes to believe it.
