Young chess whiz wins big in Central American Championships

A young man who came out of the National Scholastic Games in Barahona in 2023, just won the chess crown and gold medal at the II Central American and Caribbean Scholastic Chess Championship in Honduras 2024. Eleven-year-old Angel Sebastien Lara Santos, brought home the gold in the Under-11 category, defeating 17 other competitors. The head of the National Physical Education Institute (Inefi), Alberto Rodriguez, said that Lara Santos was one of the most promising young chess players in the entire Caribbean area.
