I second AZB but I choose Chillo from Maimon. Delicious!!!

I also like Bofe with Batatas fritas. Hummmmmm que rico.

Anyone here know what Bofe is? I bet some of you would be disgusted by it.

Damn, my mouth is watering. I love all sorts of DR food, but I stick with the classics. Pollo al carbon, tostones, "la bandera" which no one has mentioned yet even though ropa vieja is similar...........my mouth is watering as I type this. El Tigre, I don't think you should tell them what bofe is :p

We have been to Puerto Plata several times and we always stay at an all inclusive. Mind you sometimes they have a Dominican theme, but IMHO, it looks like the food is made to satisy the tourists (even though the cooks are Dominican). I would like to eat some real Dominican home cooking. Can someone tell me where I can find a really good restaurant in Sosua that has rally good Dominican food.

Is Rio San Juan close to Sosua? I don't see anything wrong with anyone expressing an interest in Dominican cooking. In my opinion it is just like a person liking Italian, Chinese or Mexican food. Seriously though could someone give me the name of a good restaurant in Sosua that serves Dominican food, besides the almond pralines.

I'm dreaming of D.R

After reading many of the responses, I'm very homesick for my grandma's cooking. I'm more of a breakfast girl so I like Mangu with the fried cheese, Salami and Eggs.. I also like Yaniqueque (however it's spelled), Chimichurri, tostones with eggs..etc

Well, one of my favorite of the popular food is...

the savoury moro (I don't know how to say this in English) with "chivo guisado", and "ensalada de papas" with a slice of delicious avocado.

Add to this a nice glass of red wine (currently I enjoy Maso S. Valentino Trentino from Cavit).

Finish this off with a mouth watery dulce de carambola (home made) and I am set for the evening..... :cheeky:

Well, not quite...;)

Un buen Vaso de MORIRSONANDO with lots of ice Would tickle my throat nicely and make my stomach feel in heaven.

I can outdrink most anybody when it comes to that stuff.

I guess I would have to settle with what's within my reach, Malta India with condensed milk.

Can anybody spare a piece of coconut FLAN ?

I second you on that Morirsonando. My mom makes it often and I always ask for more than one cup. LOL

its impossible to choose one dish thats my favorite

but sancocho done right like how my friends in La Vega make it would have to top my list.
Next would be mangu made by Maria
Morir sonando by the same family in La Vega
and pernil by Josefina.
Pollo guisado by Mayra
Just thinking about it makes hungry and wonder why am I still in NY?
