We went for dental cleaning in SD Tuesday, and the doctor told us both of her children have zika. One worse than the other.

One of our nephews is waiting for test results

Going to get worse before it gets better

Could you keep us informed as to whether they are of the 80 per cent who have no symptoms or the 20 that do and if so how slight or severe it is?
Thanks

Don't know about dentist's children (from photo in office they looked 20-something), but nephew is down for the count. High fever, headache and rash. He's about 22 and never gets sick. Big guy about 6'5". Scary when the strong ones get so sick.

Is like my husband with the dengue. We call him Ironman because he's never ever sick. Casino gave him an award for not calling in sick once in 25 years. One mosquito and he was sooooo sick

Thanks. That is a bit more informative and believable than the video saying that of those few who had symptoms they were negligible.

.....or those knuckleheads at the CDC with their fancy MD degrees and all.

http://www.cdc.gov/zika/symptoms/index.html

People usually don?t get sick enough to go to the hospital, and they very rarely die of Zika.
For this reason, many people might not realize they have been infected.
Zika virus usually remains in the blood of an infected person for about a week but it can be found longer in some people.
Once a person has been infected, he or she is likely to be protected from future infections.

Dominicans are much more likely to say they have"Zika" as it is a fashionable word now, when ever they are not feeling well. Fact of the matter is it takes a complex molecular test to determine if its Zika and after seven days or so virus specific antibodies may not be present to confirm Zika. Closing, if you ain't pregnant its no big deal

P.S, I would rather have Zika any day of the week over one of those nasty water bourne intestinal things

The nephew I mentioned above was here yesterday. He was treated for zika, as soon as symptoms appeared he was taken to ER. After 4 days he was much better, they say because the treatment began quickly.

BTW, the test for zika is 5,000 pesos and not covered by his insurance. Contrast that with about 900 pesos for my husband's dengue test.

He chose homeopathic treatment and it worked quickly. Being young, strong and healthy helped too, I'm sure. The treatment was about 4000 pesos, I didn't ask what it was
