President Leonel Fernandez inaugurated the 120-bed Herrera Hospital built at a cost of RD$142.8 million. The long awaited hospital seeks to decongestion other leading hospitals. Over the weekend, President Fernandez was also present to inaugurate the RD$177.8 million library built by the government at the Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo. Furthermore, the government officially handed in the new building that will house the departments of Migration and Passports in the Centro de los Heroes. Over the weekend, the government left officially inaugurated several works in Tamayo, the town that was practically buried by mudslides following Hurricane Georges in 1998. These included the RD$31.8 million contention wall to avoid a repeat of the 1998 tragedy, and several irrigation channels.
