The Listin Diario reports that Danny Almonte’s age is becoming a secondary consideration. The focus now is on the youth and his natural talents to play ball. The newspaper says that more than 20 schools have been offering him scholarships in the US. News reports say he has been out of school since he moved to the US in 2000, because of his limited knowledge of English. The newspaper also reports that the Central Electoral Board investigation into his true age indicates that he is 14, not 12. The JCE has yet to make a formal statement, but the conclusions of the JCE investigator are that there is no supporting evidence to validate the second birth certificate issued in his name on 31 March 2000.
