Dollar steep, but stable

The dollar has been stable for the past two trading days, but is still much higher than what the government would like it to be. At RD$24.90 to the US dollar in the commercial banks and most exchange houses, a dollar costs about RD$4 more than desired. This is despite the fact that, among other steps taken, the Central Bank has removed RD$4.8 billion from circulation and demonetized RD$800 million from the government.
