The Spanish consulate told the Diario Libre that 485 new jobs are currently available for Dominicans seeking to immigrate to that country. The jobs are in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and the Baleares (Mayorca, Minorca and Ibiza). Two hundred jobs are for domestic employ, 100 are in hotels and hostels and 185 are in the business sector. The third group of Dominican migrants is scheduled to leave at the end of June. The Spanish consul, Diego Bermejo and Gabriela Varela, the head of the labor office at the Spanish Embassy, told reporters that the new selection process would be carried out from 19 May to 6 June. The new migrants will work under the auspices of the Agreement to Regulate the Migration Flow that the Dominican and Spanish governments signed in 2001.
