What will the President bring back?

El Caribe speculates that President Hip?lito Mej?a could return with US$1.2 billion to strengthen the Central Bank reserves. This would be comparable to the US government response when it granted US$40 billion to Mexico to offset the Tequila Effect or the Mexican peso crisis.
The editorial writer also says that the US President could back the DR by authorizing that the Dominican Republic receive equal treatment as the Central American nations in the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) with the United States.
The newspaper also expresses hope that the President return with a strategy to strengthen the Superintendence of Banks and with concrete formulas for the liberalizing of the present requirements for the transfer of remittances.
