JCE starts training of party delegates

As the 20 May presidential elections approach, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) started its training program for the delegates of the political parties yesterday, Monday 9 April.

Meanwhile, the United States ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Raul Yzaguirre said that his country would contact the Organization of American States (OAS) to verify the voting next 20 May. The OAS and the Dominican Republic have signed an agreement for sending observers to the DR to watch the elections. The agreement covers the first round of voting and the second round too, if necessary.

El Nuevo Diario says that the delegates are given training on the ballots, on how to fill out the voting acts that tally the voting at the individual polling stations, as well as training on their duties. The JCE also teaches them about all the resolutions covering the behavior of delegates and authorities during the vote counting process. This first set of trainees from all the political parties will then have the responsibility of training the delegates from their parties who will be present at the voting booths.
