As well as retired sex worker Jackeline Montero who won a seat in the Chamber of Deputies on the PRM ticket, Listin Diario reports that other newcomers to Congress will include veteran politicians Rafaela (Lila) Alburquerque, Alfredo Pacheco and Ginnette Bournigal.
The new session will also mark the debut of the children of several established Dominican politicians, Rogelio Genao Lanza (Ramon Rogelio Genao), Victor Manuel Fadul (Jose Ramon Fadul) and Carlos Alberto Amarante Garcia (Carlos Amarante Baret).
Some of the new deputies are married to politicians and government officials, including Sandra Abinader, who is married to Presidency Social Plan administrator Cesar Prieto, Jacqueline Ortiz, wife of Minister of Hacienda Simon Lizardo, and Miledys Suero Rodriguez, wife of deputy Ramon Duran.
Then there is Franklin Romero, an artistic promoter known for the signing of the bachata group Aventura, Domingo Baret (Francis Gas), and Sergio Moya (Gory), who used to be the purchasing director for the closed down Dream casinos.
There will be well known journalists, including Jose Laluz of the PLD and Faride Raful of the PRM, who have both developed careers as social and political analysts in the media.
