The 2022 Huricane Season for the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico officially starts 1 June and lasts through 30 November 2022. For the Dominican Republic, the peak of the season, nevertheless, is the month of September.
International experts forecast a very active season with the formation of 19 named tropical storms with sustained winds of 63 km/h or more. Of the storms, four are forecast to be intense (category 3, 4 or 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale).
The names of the storms for 2022 are: Alex, Bonnie, Colin, Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Ian, Julia, Karl, Lisa, Martin, Nicole, Owen, Paula, Richard, Shary, Tobias, Virginia and Walter.
