Paternity leave extended for fathers in government jobs

President Luis Abinader issued Decree 312-22, increasing the paternity leave for fathers employed in government. The President authorized fathers to take off a day a month to care for their children in the first year. Mothers already have this privilege. Likewise, the decree authorizes that as of three months and until five years of the birth of their children, both fathers and mothers can request up to three permissions of up to three days to attend to special circumstances affecting their children. The decree recommends the employees reach agreements for remote working.
