Government spends RD$7.2 billion on costly medicines

The Dominican government via a program called Essential Medicines and Logistical Support (Promese/Cal) provides costly medicines to low-income patients suffering from very serious, often catastrophic, illnesses. Promese/Cal reports spending so far this 2022, RD$7.2 billion on these meds. The latest tender was issued and the medicines necessary to finish out this year are now in the country, Listin Diario reports. Some are already being distributed and others are in warehouses awaiting distribution.
