Dominican sports tourism is getting a major boost this fall with the hosting of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the global girls football tournament for youth. The event will be held 16 October to 3 November 2024.
The Dominican Republic was selected as host for the 2024 edition on 23 June 2023. It will be the first time a Dominican team participates in the global football competition.
The U-17 is played every two years. The event will be held annually from 2025 onwards.
The Dominican Republic competes in the 2024 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship. The competition is in its eighth year. CONCACAF organizes the youth football championship for the women’s under-17 national teams of the North, Central American and Caribbean region.
Likewise, teams from Asia will qualify for the world championship in the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup. From from Africa will qualify during the African U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification. South American teams will qualify in the Conmebol league participating in the South American Under-17 Women’s Football Championship. Women’s Championship.
UEFA is the league for those qualifying to compete for Europe. These teams are participating in the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship. Oceania teams will participate in the UFC U-16.
The top two teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup as the CONCACAF representatives, alongside the Dominican Republic, host of the World Cup.
