The National Health Service (SNS) is calling for prevention and prudence as the nation goes on vacation for Easter Week. Thousands commute to visit family and friends and vacation destinations nationwide. The SNS is part of the Awareness for Life Easter 2024 Operation that begins at 2pm on Thursday, 28 March and will end at 6pm on Sunday, 31 March 2024.
National public hospitals have been strengthened with emergency personnel to assist cases over the Easter Week vacation holiday.
The Center of Emergency Operations is coordinating around 50,000 military, physicians, paramedicals, and search and rescue staff in addition to over 8,000 Civil Defense volunteers.
The Fire Department is calling for people leaving their homes to close the gas cylinder connections, turn down their electric breakers and leave their phone number with the closest neighbor to be contacted in case of emergency or news. When asked about the most frequent cases that occur during the season, the head of the Fire Department, General José Luis Frómeta Herasme, said that gas leaks are the second cause of fires in the country.
