José Manuel Paliza, a prominent businessman and former president of the National Business Council (Conep), passed away on Friday, 27 September 2024. He was the husband of fellow entrepreneur Elena Viyella and the uncle of Minister of the Presidency Jose Ignacio Paliza.
Paliza was a visionary and was active in the founding of several leading organizations, included the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo).
In a heartfelt tribute, Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza described his uncle as “a brave citizen committed to the best causes of the nation.” He reflected: “Tío José Manuel was a rare individual, dedicated and courageous in his pursuit of national interests. A devoted father and husband, he was a role model for me. Coelho was right: ‘The world only changes through example’; his will endure forever. Give Dad a big hug for me. We will miss you greatly’.”
