
Vice President Raquel Peña is participating for a second consecutive year in the Davos, Switzerland World Economic Forum, the Presidency of the Dominican Republic reports. The World Economic Forum is an annual event taking place from 15 to 19 January 2024. The theme for 2024 is “Rebuilding trust.”
The organizers say the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum will provide a crucial space to focus on the fundamental principles driving trust, including transparency, consistency and accountability.
The prestigious annual meeting welcomes over 100 governments, all major international organizations, 1000 Forum’s Partners, as well as civil society leaders, experts, youth representatives, social entrepreneurs, and news outlets.
Vice President Peña has a full schedule. She is a panelist in the session “A Key Moment for Latin America.”
The Vice President attended the special opening event organized by Klaus Schwab, founder and executive president of the World Economic Forum, and Hilde Schwab, president and co-founder of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.
Also on her agenda is her participation in “Dialogue between women political leaders: AI, Democracy & Political Leadership: Pitfalls and Possibilities.” The event will delve into the interaction between artificial intelligence and political leadership, with special attention to viable strategies and leveraging AI effectively, to address the challenges presented to women in assuming political positions.
Likewise, the Vice President will participate in the session “Addressing the North-South Schism,” together with Bill Gates, co-president of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; The Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), among others.
Raquel Peña will also hold several strategic meetings to project and continue the topics addressed with regional leaders in the Davos 2023 edition, as well as expand and strengthen the ties of the Dominican Republic with other countries and with personalities from the business and economic field who may consider the country as a favorable destination for their investments.
