The fourth annual DATE convention (Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange) represents an extraordinary opportunity for the country to sell its tourism services directly to potential buyers. Johnny Bernal, head of the hotel and restaurant association ASONAHORES, told reporters that DATE would be held from 10-12 April at the Convention Center of the Hotel Barcel? B?varo in Punta Cana. President Hip?lito Mej?a is scheduled to officiate at the opening ceremonies. This year, in spite of the adverse international situation, there are 10 additional companies registered and a total of nearly 90 tour operators participating. Bernal, who is part of the Naco Group, feels that this will provide a unique opportunity for the smaller hotels and tourist attractions to meet the potential buyers face to face.
