The Dominican Republic?s leading animal protection society, PADELA (Patronato Amigos de los Animales), has begun a new push to secure funding to complete the construction of an animal hospital and shelter for stray animals. While certain companies have already contributed construction materials, labor, and tools, more donations are needed. The hospital would stand on a 6,300-meter lot already secured in Batey Bienvenido, Manoguayabo, Province of Santo Domingo.
Ana Fondeur, a PADELA volunteer, writes to encourage individuals and companies alike to sponsor a corporate event or support the programs of the organization with the goal of ending animal suffering and making the DR a better place for all beings. Donations can go a long way to feed, shelter, and neuter many stray animals or help pay for veterinary procedures or shelter improvements.
As part of their fund-raising activities, PADELA produces an annual calendar, which is on sale at the Hospital Veterinario Arroyo Hondo, Euclides Morillo 76, and also at the Thesaurus Bookstore at Abraham Lincoln, corner Sarasota.
PADELA is the leading organization that provides assistance to street animals in the DR and their offices can be visited at Calle Madame Curie No. 1, Torre Marfil, Apt. 7A, La Esperilla. For more information call (809) 562-3606, email padela@sdq.com or see
