The instruction judge for the Odebrecht bribes case, Francisco Ortega Polanco set a RD$5 million bail for Bernardo Castellanos de Moya, the 14th man who faces charges in the Odebrecht bribes case. The judge ordered he present himself to the Specialized Prosecutor Office for Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) once a month and cannot travel abroad for the eight months duration of the pre-trial measures.<\/p>\n
Castellanos was working in Panama when the Odebrecht charges were presented. Because he was abroad, Castellanos\u2019 case will be heard separately from the 13 others charged in the Odebrecht bribes case. The others are Tem\u00edstocles Mont\u00e1s, V\u00edctor D\u00edaz R\u00faa, Conrado Pittaluga, Andr\u00e9s Bautista, Ruddy Gonz\u00e1lez, C\u00e9sar S\u00e1nchez, M\u00e1ximo De \u00d3leo, Radham\u00e9s Segura, Roberto Rodr\u00edguez Hern\u00e1ndez, Julio C\u00e9sar Valent\u00edn, Tommy Alberto Gal\u00e1n and Alfredo Pacheco.<\/p>\n
Bernardo Castellanos was director for hydroelectric projects for the Empresa de Generaci\u00f3n Hidroel\u00e9ctrica Dominicana (EgeHID) from 2000 to 2004. The Attorney General accuses him of having received money from Odebrecht lobbyist Angel Rond\u00f3n to give a favorable opinion on the construction of the Pinalito hydroelectric. Castellanos said that the construction of Pinalito began after he left the post. He has said he acted as a technician, without a role in the Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) and thus did not have a deciding vote in the implementation of the project.<\/p>\n
