Nearby, in the Duarte Peak, temperatures are expected to go below 0\u00b0C. Lows of 18\u00b0C are forecast for Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n<p>Weather forecaster Julio Ordo\u00f1ez said the lows are the result of an anticyclone weather phenomenon or high pressure system caused by wind flowing clockwise. He said this is not caused by a cold front, but rather is part of the effects of La Ni\u00f1a that in addition to low temperatures brings abundant rains.
