He has ordered the Armed Forces to send an additional 900 soldiers to reinforce the coastal patrols in the areas between Manzanillo and Puerto Plata to the north, and from Pedernales to Barahona, to the south.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time he has agreed to add 50 new ATVs and three helicopters to fight the entry of illegal immigrants and to protect the security of the whole border.<\/p>\n<p>During his visit to the border on Sunday, 13 May 2018, the President also said that the government would reinforce the areas where most immigrants are headed, including Azua and Jicom\u00e9. In addition he announced that a fleet of drones would be sent to the border to be managed by 30 officers.
