Marlon Mart\u00ednez, accused of the murder of pregnant teenager, 16-year old Emely Peguero will serve another three months in jail after the coercive measure was ratified by a San Franciso de Macoris court.
\nThe trial of Marlon and his mother Marlin will begin this Friday, 18 May 2018.<\/p>\n

The public prosecution service is asking for 30 years in jail for Marlon and 20 for Marlin for the crimes they are accused of committing.<\/p>\n

The defense for Marlon Mart\u00ednez continues to insist that Emely\u2019s death was not murder, but an illegal abortion leading to an \u201caccidental death\u201d. Emely was pregnant with Marlon\u2019s child. The abortion was allegedly carried out at the home of Marlin and Marlon. The performing doctor or others intervening in the abortion itself have not been identified.<\/p>\n

Thus far, only Marlin and Marlon will be on trial as prosecutors have not charged others possible suspects in the case, including the maids, Mar\u00eda Balbina Rodr\u00edguez Santos and Sugel Miguelina Polo Garc\u00eda, who worked for Marlin Mart\u00ednez and Marlin\u2019s brother, Henry Mart\u00ednez.<\/p>\n

Also not standing trial will be Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar Ure\u00f1a Alm\u00e1nzar (El Boli), who reached a deal with the prosecution to appear as a witness against Marlin, to prove that she pressurized her son to \u201cundo\u201d the pregnancy. Ure\u00f1a lead crime investigators to the body of Peguero that was thus located on 31 August 2018 in Cayetano Germos\u00e9n, Espaillat province, after several days of the teenager declared missing.<\/p>\n
