The vehicles of the victims were later negotiated for sale in Haiti and the corpses were dumped in a hidden common grave in a Juan Dolio area cave. The accused were known throughout the hearings as the \u201cVerdugos de la Fosa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judges Kenia del Pilar Tav\u00e1rez Henr\u00edquez, Haydeliza Ram\u00edrez Henr\u00edquez and Juan G\u00fc\u00edlamo issued their verdict on 12 July 2018, after 10 hours of deliberations.<\/p>\n<p>Those sentenced are Hugo Antonio Zorrilla Alfonseca and Radham\u00e9s Ram\u00edrez, to 30 years each at the CCR-San Pedro de Macor\u00eds jail; and police sergeant Luz Divina Mart\u00ednez Pimentel, Jaime Valent\u00edn Encarnaci\u00f3n Figuereo (accused of negotiating the vehicles of the deceased in Haiti) and Samuel Fortuna, to 20 years at the Najayo and La Victoria jails.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants were accused of the murder of five drivers of competitor transport group &#8212; Vidal Dionisio Berroa Manzueta, Jary Wilson Rodr\u00edguez, Germ\u00e1n Arredondo Quezada and David Polanco. Their corpses were found on 23 May 2016.
