The office is based in Los Angeles, California. The new director, Aldonsa Alc\u00e1ntara said the office a result of the President Medina\u2019s goal of the country receiving 10 million tourists per year. She said that California is regarded as the fifth largest economy in the world. The 2017 Gross State Product of California was US$2.747 trillion, surpassing the United Kingdom&#8217;s $2.625 trillion Gross Domestic Product.<\/p>\n<p>Alc\u00e1ntara said actions are underway to attract direct flights from Los Angeles to the Dominican Republic. She said the Tourism Promotion Office is working in collaboration with officers at the country\u2019s general consulate in Los Angeles. The new office will service California and west coast market.
